Leather bound (sheep?) with 5 raised bands. Leather heavily worn. Boards loose and showing cord at the hinges. Fraying and tears at head and tail of spine. End papers showing prices from the Merriam catalogue. Previous owner’s bookplate on first free end paper. Frontis with intact tissue guard. Text block binding is sound and strong. No markings. Quarto, 8 x 11 inches tall.

Cleveland and New York: The World Publishing Company, 1968. Early Printing. Cloth. Fine/good. A fine example of Webster’s second or the W2 in a good dust jacket. Appears barely used, with no markings or flaws to book. Brown cloth with gold title stamping and blue accents. Indo-European language tree end papers. Original good dust jacket for 1968 shows chipping and two 1.5 inch tears plus many small closed tears at top edge of jacket. Dust jacket now protected in a clear, removable, archival cover. Maps, illustrations. 2129 pp. plus appendices.

Frontispiece of Noah Webster and title page in vol. 1 page creased vertically. Mild toning to endpapers and pages in both volumes. Small quarto, 8 1/2 x 11 in. tall.
